Compliance

Safeguarding and compliance

How PIT Recruitment approaches safer recruitment, candidate screening, information handling and the responsibilities schools retain for their own pre-employment checks.

Founder confirmation and professional review required: PIT Recruitment does not currently claim any membership, accreditation, audited safeguarding certification, umbrella body status or government approval. This page describes intended practice and must be confirmed by the founders, and reviewed professionally, before launch. Any memberships or accreditations will be added only once genuinely held.

Our commitment

Recruiting into schools carries responsibilities that go beyond finding a good match. PIT Recruitment is committed to safer recruitment principles and to conducting our work in a way that supports the safeguarding duties of the schools we serve.

That means asking proper questions, seeking documentary evidence of qualifications and employment history, following up references, and raising concerns with the school rather than working around them.

What we do as part of screening

  • Verify the qualifications and teaching experience a candidate presents against the requirements of the role
  • Ask candidates about their employment history and about gaps in that history
  • Seek professional references appropriate to a teaching appointment
  • Share relevant information with the school so that it can complete its own checks
  • Record recruitment activity so that decisions can be reviewed

What remains the school's responsibility

The employing school makes the appointment and is responsible for its own safer-recruitment procedures. That includes identity verification, criminal record and police clearance checks in the relevant jurisdictions, verification of original documents, reference checking to its own standard, and any regulatory requirements imposed locally.

Nothing we do replaces those checks. Where a school asks us to support part of its process, the scope is agreed with that school in writing.

Candidate information and confidentiality

Candidate information, including CVs and supporting documents, is held in private storage. It is shared with a school only in connection with a role the candidate has applied for or agreed to be put forward for.

Access to candidate documents by our team is restricted and logged. Internal recruiter notes are never shown to candidates or to schools.

Raising a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to our work, tell us and we will treat it seriously and handle it confidentially where appropriate. If a child is at immediate risk, contact the local emergency services and the relevant safeguarding authority first.

Concerns about our service that are not safeguarding matters are handled through our complaints procedure.
