Who we support
PIT Recruitment works with UK-qualified teachers who are considering, or already committed to, a move into international education. That includes class teachers, subject specialists, inclusion and learning support staff, and middle and senior leaders.
Our focus is British-curriculum and international schools in the Gulf and wider Middle East, because that is where UK training, terminology and assessment experience transfer most directly into the classroom.
Why UK-qualified teachers, and where PGCE and QTS fit
British-curriculum schools abroad recruit heavily from the UK-trained pool because their curriculum, examinations and inspection expectations mirror the system you already work in. A PGCE or PGDE shows recognised initial teacher training, while Qualified Teacher Status is the professional status many schools and local regulators look for alongside it.
Requirements are not identical everywhere. Some schools will consider strong candidates who are completing a route to QTS or who hold an equivalent recognised qualification from another country, and others apply a stricter rule set because of local licensing. The vacancy and the school are always the authority on what is required.
- PGCE or PGDE, or an equivalent recognised initial teacher training route
- Qualified Teacher Status, or clear evidence of the route you are completing
- Classroom experience in the phase or subject you are applying for
- Recent, contactable references from your most recent school
- An enhanced DBS certificate and a clean safeguarding record
The types of school we will recruit for
International education is not one sector. A well-established British-curriculum school with decades of history feels very different from a campus opening its first cohort, and both can be the right move depending on what you want next.
- British-curriculum schools following the National Curriculum for England, with IGCSE and A Level
- Schools offering the International Baccalaureate alongside or instead of English qualifications
- Bilingual and private national schools with English-medium subject teaching
- Newly opened schools building their staffing and curriculum from the start
How the process works
- Discover PIT RecruitmentRead our destination and specialism pages, and our insights articles, to work out which markets and school types fit your circumstances.
- Create a teacher accountRegistration is free and takes a couple of minutes. Your account is where your profile, CV and applications live.
- Complete your teaching profileTell us your qualifications, curriculum experience, phase or subject, destination preferences and availability. A complete profile is far easier for our team to work with.
- Upload your CVCVs are stored privately and are never published on the website. Only our recruitment team can access them, and access is logged.
- Browse and apply for genuine vacanciesOnce recruitment opens, every vacancy on the site will be a role we are actively working on. You can apply to more than one, and you can add a short covering note to each application.
- Recruitment team reviewWe review applications against what the school has told us it needs, and we may come back to you with questions about your experience or documentation.
- Shortlisting and interview where appropriateWhere your profile matches, we put you forward to the school. Interviews are arranged by the school, usually online, and often include a task or a teaching activity.
- The school's hiring processThe school makes the hiring decision, issues any offer and runs its own pre-employment checks and onboarding. We support you through the process but we do not make the decision.
What you can expect from us
We will not promise interviews, offers, sponsorship, visas, specific salary levels or response times. Those outcomes sit with the school and with the relevant authorities, and any agency that guarantees them is not being straight with you.
- Honest information about a role before you apply, including anything we know that might not suit you
- Your CV shared with a school only in connection with a role you have applied for or agreed to
- Straightforward communication, without pressure to accept something that is not right
- Clear guidance on what documentation the process will involve
- A record in your account of every application you have submitted
